The Burrell Collection in Glasgow’s Pollok Country Park has won the prestigious Art Fund ‘Museum of the Year 2023’ at the awards ceremony held in the British Museum in London in July – the world’s largest museum prize.
Managed by the charity Glasgow Life, the Museum reopened last year following a major refurbishment and is home to over 9,000 objects collected by Scottish shipping magnate William Burrell and his wife Constance Burrell.
Highlights include one of the most significant holdings of Chinese art in the UK, medieval treasures including stained glass, arms and armour. Of particular interest are 200 of the world’s finest tapestries and paintings by renowned French artists including Manet, Cezanne and Degas.
As part of the redesign by architects John McAslan + Partners, lighting designers DHA Designs specified Tokistar’s Micro Spotlight for powerful but discreet illumination across many showcases.
